Right from his childhood, the artist has always lived in houses which were situated in coconut groves. He enjoyed collecting baby coconuts (Bonde) and making toys with them. Every few months, the landlord of the grove would organize harvesting of the coconuts. He loved climbing on the coconut heap and admiring the different textures on the skin of the coconuts. The colours of the skin varied from yellows to browns. It is fairly easy to peel off the skin of the coconut with a sharp knife. There were so many abstract patterns already existing on the skins, that he found it very appropriate material to create his abstractions. Besides, the coconut skin is so strong that it can even survive storms when the coconuts are carried from one shore to the other through the ocean.
