Kalpavriksha is the imaginary tree in heaven, which fulfills all your wishes. Coconut tree is the kalpavriksha of the Indian coastline, which provides the population with their favouritecurries, oil and the roofing over their heads. The word coconut has a very interesting etymology. The Portuguese called it coconut because a de-husked coconut looks like a monkey’s head. (Cocos in Portuguese means monkey head). The word got adopted in English language and now it is the international word for the fruit. According to the artist, this work celebrates the coconut tree.
