Marigold circle 05

Marigold flowers originate in South America. They were brought to Indian shores by the Portuguese in the 16^th century. They have become part and parcel of the Indian cultural ethos and are used in religious rituals, marriage decorations, as well as for garlands to celebrate political victories. In Hindi they are called Genda Phool (गेंदा फूल), in Marathi Zhendu (झेंडू) and in Konkani they are called Rosam (रॉजा).
