The word Catamaran in English language originates in Tamil / Malayalam word Kattarmaram. This boat, which the artist bought in Trivandrum, Kerala, is the original Kattarmaram. A single fisherman carries three pieces of light cotton wood to the beach, ties them together and goes off fishing into the sea. (Kattar means to tie, marram means wood). Kattarmaram – tied wood.
