Subodh Kerkar shares a memory of Ganesh Chaturthi with us and says, "Lord Ganesha is the most popular deity of Goa and Maharashtra. Chaturthi is the time when families get together in devotion, merry and mirth. During my childhood, my father would take us all to Keri, our ancestral village which is situated on the northern tip of Goa adjoining Maharashtra. We lived in Margao then and had to cross three rivers in ferry boats and wooden boats to visit Ganapati Bappa. There was just one bus which left Chopdem for Keri at 6 pm. One year we missed it. We spent the night in a stranger's home in Chopdem and my father organized a bullock cart to take us to Keri next morning. we loved the warm hospitality in a home of someone we did not know, the monkeys jumping on the trees surrounding the house and the unforgettable bullock cart ride. This is my vivid memory of Ganesh Chaturthi. What is yours?"
